Aluini

Born in Tunis, Tunisia, Mohamed-Slim Alouini received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech in 1998. He has since served as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota and at Texas A&M University in Qatar before joining the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in 2009. Prof. ALouini’s research interests are in the modeling of wireless communication systems, particularly in areas of low-density populations.

In addition to his research on wireless communication systems, Dr. Alouini has also published a textbook on digital communication over fading channels. His many awards include the 2011 Recognition Award from the IEEE Communication Society Wireless Technical Committee, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers in the Engineering Sciences, and the inaugural OIC Science & Technology Achievement Award. However, he is perhaps best known for his work in the area of performance analysis for wireless networks.
